“You’re so lucky”
How many times has somebody said this to you? Whether it’s in relation to a holiday, lifestyle, job or your health and fitness. I find it quite frustrating to be honest. I’ve gained all of the good things in my life from working relentlessly hard and looking after my mind and body. It wasn’t easy. I spent 11 years living away from my home and family, so luck never came into it. I simply made the right choices for me, in order to live the life I want to live and I’ve never left anything to chance.
What is luck?
Luck is defined as success or failure apparently brought by chance rather than through one’s own actions.
To me, luck is winning the lottery. Luck is set aside for those who choose to gamble and wait for change. I call these type of people ‘Lottery Livers’; people who just wait for something to change, but don’t take any action to make it happen.
Then there are the ‘Game Changers’. These type of people have a self driven vision. They know what they want and will keep going until they get there. Game changers are focussed on personal life achievement and are mostly intrinsically motivated. These people never need luck because they make their own with a focussed and relentless determination.
How can you improve your odds?
Do you ever wonder why some people are more successful than you or do you find that you attribute their success to luck?
Every one of us can become luckier by taking action to make our dreams more likely to happen. Taking action simply means you’re shifting the odds in your favour. To do this you can’t hang around. You have to go for it. You have to challenge yourself by stepping out of your comfort zone every single day. Taking chances will increase your odds of becoming successful in whatever you put your heart and soul into. No matter who you are, if you want something to happen you have to try. This could be anything from finding a new job, a new hobby or starting a new relationship. The odds of any of these things happening are pretty much non existent if you just sit at home and expect them to fall into your lap.
The next time you find yourself thinking that someone else is lucky, believe that you can also live the life you dream of. Get off your backside and chase that desire! Focus your energy into your life instead of commenting on how lucky others are.
Life Coaching can help you draw up an action plan to change your life for the better. This is achieved by taking action and never giving up, even when things get difficult. Failure is not the end, it is merely the first step to success.
What are you waiting for? Take the leap of faith. Make the Change. Not tomorrow. Not next week, but NOW.
